Description

Research data on Isopods from research papers, reports and dissertations in 10 African countries including: Angola, Côte d'Ivoire, Gabon, Ghana, Guinee Biseau, Liberia, Senegal, Nigeria, Sao Tome, Togo.

This project proposal carried out in collaboration with the Centre National de Floristique of Félix HOUPHOUËT-BOIGNY will consist of acquiring data on soil biodiversity in natural ecosystems (forests and savannahs) as well as in agrosystems throughout the country. This data mobilization will be done through bibliographic research and meetings or exchanges with researchers in Côte d'Ivoire or border countries. This data mobilization will focus on soil fauna and flora, soil properties and nature, climate and land use. The acquired data will then be published in order to deduce the major interactions between soil properties and land use and soil biology on the one hand, and between soil biodiversityand ecosystem functions on the other hand.

Titre Global soil Biodiversity Initiative
Identifiant SoilBON
Financement Colorado State University
Description du design Several data are available on the animal kingdom in Côte d'Ivoire. However, data published by Ivorian researchers on taxa such as Fungi, Archaea, Bacteria, Chromista, Protozoa and viruses are rare (https://www.gbif.org/country/CI/publishing ). Several research projects have been carried out on soil fauna, but very little information is available on the GBIF portal. This project will make it possible to fill this information gap and to enrich the occurrence data and the thematic of the soil fauna observed on the GBIF portal.

Méthodes d'échantillonnage

Mobilization of Isopods biodiversity data from scientific publications (articles, dissertations, reports).

Etendue de l'étude Different regions and agroecosystems in Africa
Contrôle qualité After data entry, a taxonomic correction is made using the GBIF API sotfware. For the location of species, the Geolocate software was used to determine the geographical coordinates.

Description des étapes de la méthode:

  1. Mobilization of data, extension of good practices in mobilizing and digitizing data on biodiversity, publication data on GBIF portal.
